The Irrationality of Alcoholics Anonymous by Gabrielle Glaser- THE ATLANTIC Piece

Here is a great new article written by Gabrielle Glaser. Take a look at the comments. Oh Dear God !!!

Have fun !

Its faith-based 12-step program dominates treatment in the United States. But researchers have debunked central tenets of AA doctrine and found dozens of other treatments more effective.

J.G. is a lawyer in his early 30s. He’s a fast talker and has the lean, sinewy build of a distance runner. His choice of profession seems preordained, as he speaks in fully formed paragraphs, his thoughts organized by topic sentences. He’s also a worrier—a big one—who for years used alcohol to soothe his anxiety.

J.G. started drinking at 15, when he and a friend experimented in his parents’ liquor cabinet. He favored gin and whiskey but drank whatever he thought his parents would miss the least. He discovered beer, too, and loved the earthy, bitter taste on his tongue when he took his first cold sip.

His drinking increased through college and into law school. He could, and occasionally did, pull back, going cold turkey for weeks at a time. But nothing quieted his anxious mind like booze, and when he didn’t drink, he didn’t sleep. After four or six weeks dry, he’d be back at the liquor store.

Suing Alcoholics Anonymous, your “EAP” employer, 12 step rehabs and your Insurance Company that pays for a religious 1930’s never updated peer support groups. No Mental Heath and NO real Health Care provided there ma, so whats the deal? What can you do?

Is AA like a wind up  phone circa 1930’s…oldphone1930

and Smart Recovery is like an IPHONE.

Why in America are we so stuck back then, when it  comes to addiction, alcoholic overuse and dependency? At first I thought AA just grew as a grassroots organization. I thought that because the readings at AA meetings and the folklore that is perpetuated in meetings, makes one think that. Our TV  shows like “MOM”momtv show pic

and FILMS like “FLIGHT”

flightpicwith Denzel Washington   promotes it all flagrantly like its sweet cookies and milk support group that is run by professionals  and  secular, which we all know is not true! …

so hear is the thread you have requested….:)

Hi.  Have you been coerced or bullied into AA? Are you a Doctordrsmokingpic

or a pilot? AA was formulated when cigarettes were promoted as being good for us as we see here in this ad. Well, is AA still good for the masses? Never updated, never researched  or never vetted? For 75 years…

I have just come back from interviewing a Pilot and a Doctor.  I was so shocked I had a hard time watching the footage when I got home. I got up from my desk, went downstairs and told my husband it was too depressing…I could not handle it …how sad he is…. Thank God my editor is more detached! LOL Thanks … Barry RUBINOW.

The coercion within the FAA and pilots is so fucked up that it broke my heart. This pilot /doctor was so sad that I have no words for what I felt from him. We could not film him in the light and we will have to pitch his voice for fear that he will be so retaliated upon and loss his license.

Things are very bad when the FAA is sending you to an AA psychiatrist who is called a something …blah blah medical Sponsor with some silly other word preceding it. They charge $1,500. for one session. There are only 2 of them in Northern Cali. They force the pilots to go to an expensive $40,000 bullshit rehab called HAZELTON !!!!!!! filled with stepper shit….OMFG!

I want you to know this….You are not alone. There is an attorney who can help you. Please contact me for now and we  will begin to see how to handle all the emails.  makeaasafer@gmail.com

EVERY DAY is Precious. Love the One you’re with.

One Day at a Time. (a seriously overused slogan from the gutter of Bill WIlson’s basement.)

When I was younger and new in AA I lived one moment at a time. Even back then I hated the sayings “one day at a time“, “Think, Think, Think”, ” First Things First“.

I hated their stupid slogans. I quit for life back then without the help of AA. I quit drinking on my own 2 weeks before I went to any AA meeting. I thought chips and 30-60-90 standing up etc even in 1975 was a bunch of nonsense. But, sometimes life throws us a curve. Things happen. Pets die, friends move away, health issues arise, and new friends from the blogs commit suicide as with Ryan.

Good things happen too. We leave AA and find freedom. We develop new hobbies. We realize AA is filled with laughable belief systems from 1930. I know I hammer this fact about the 1930’s but honestly….its really true. Laden with traces of prohibition and the temperance movement from then, we plan to change the worlds views on Addiction and Alcohol over use.One issues at a time. One state at a time.

AA can keeps it’s tentacles in the 1% true alcoholic. I have no interest in this demographic. I want to help young people to use moderation or sane abstinence based programs THEY CHOOSE and more practical non religious paths to healthy living around alcohol and drugs.

We want to change the laws.

We want to educate everywhere that AA doesn’t work for most and that it is dangerous.

I am no longer alone in my journey. I have met many of you on www.Stinkin-thinkin.com , OP and RFR as well as my other blog www.stop13stepinaa.wordpress.com.

We want the world to know there are other options like;

Smart Recovery, SOS- Secular Organizations for Sobriety, Ken Anderson’s Hams Harm Reduction, www.drinklinkmoderation.com, Moderation Management for Moderation programs that work, Amy Lee Coy’s way FROM DEATH DO I PART, Hank Hayes’s way YOU’VE BEEN LIED TO…, Rational Recovery, WFS, or just reading a good book and blogging with other ex steppers.

Each and everyone of you have helped me deprogram and find my way somewhere between the remnants of the AA cult think and a real normal world where most people live. 🙂

I apologize to my sons whenever needed for the bullshit spewed to them …lies I said to them unknowingly about the alcohol and alcoholism rhetoric engrained in me. What a joke it is in today’s entertainment culture.

But now, I know. I know the truth and thank God …so do my wonderful sons.

I pray every parent finds my blog before they do what I did to my first born. It’s criminal the lies AA sober parents say to their kids.

I will spend my life changing all of this and some how make it sane to get help.

Hank Hayes on blogtalkradio today with Massive and Why AA Doesn’t Work for Some

Have you been in and out of AA/NA? Have sponosrs told you to just do “another 4th step” Do you feel like AA is a cult? Have you been told to do more “service” ? Are tired of hearing readings from a book from 1939 being your design for living? Have AA memebers told you what medications you can or can not take? This and more are some reasons why people are running from 12 step meetings and it’s culture.

But what about the person who gets a DUI and is court ordered illegally to AA meetings. Know your rights. Ask for a non religious alternative , such as LifRing, Smart Recovery, Hams Harm REduction, Drink Link Moderation , On Track and Beyond, Amy Lee Coys WAY, Rational Recovery and SOS , Secualr Oranizations for Sobriety .

Join Monica aka  massive for a 1 hour show on why AA doesnt work for some. What happens in AA today. How is this harmful to some and where else can a person get support and help.

I may read blogger gunthar 2000 version of Chapter 5 one more time for fun!!!

SOS, Smart Recovery, Women For Sobriety, Hank Hayes, Hams Harm Reduction and AMY LEE COY’s Way…They Are not Alternatives…They Are Answers to Addiction

The world needs the alternatives to not be alternatives. They need to be available like sliced bread, water, air, 7 Eleven and Gasoline. Everywhere, everyone should know that AA is not the only way and that in fact it is a very out dated modality.

And in 2012 it is a very dangerous place for youth/teens, women and vulnerable people who are overly trusting. What is your experience?
