Laurels for Film The 13th Step2016-04-29 at 1.50.47 PM

The film that tells the truth about the most revered self-help group on the planet. AA- ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, promoted as the wonder of this century by ROCKEFELLER,  NEUT GINGRICH, DICK VAN DYKE, ELTON JOHN, EDIE FALCO, Senator Hughes, Chuck Lorre, Martin Sheen and many more.

Little did I know how deep the rabbit hole went when I started making the film in May of 2011. It was Christine and Saundra Cass’s murder in Hawaii that did it for me.  Learning about Karla Brada’s murder put the nails in the coffin as well.

But when I learned about how Pilots, Nurses, and Doctors are extorted to attend in such an insane way …I could not believe my ears or eyes as I read their contracts. This could be another whole film on CNN , FRONTLINE or 60 Minutes – but I digress.

The latest News about Corrupt Sober Living Houses, (Chris Bathum featured on ABC 20/20 recently)  fraud in Rehabs and how PROP 36 sends all the diversion folks to a SOBER LIVING, drug tests all clients and makes everyone follow the 1936 -12 step Prohibition WAYS of NO ALCOHOL , “no nothing” kinda mentality. YIKES !!!

Interesting note that Major Insurance is paying for The Sober Living sham, through a thing called IOP’s and expensive Drug Testing. Who owns the drug testing COMPANY you may ask? I find myself digging, again, down another rabbit hole. But, that’s another film. There is one pilot who I interviewed in this film. He was afraid to be seen.

Here is the link to rent or buy the film.

CBS 48 Hours will air the Karla Brada story this Saturday, 10 pm, on Channel 2. Murder, Rehab, Court Coercion and Alcoholics Anonymous

cbs 48 hours picBe sure to tune in this Saturday night to the new episode that will cover the long awaited Karla Brada story. Brought to us by Gabrielle Glaser, http://gabrielleglaser.com journalist, author of Her Best Ket Secret, who was introduced to 48 hours by a neighbor who read her book. The story in Pro Public where Gabrielle interviewed, Hector and Jaro Mendez, Karla’s parents was a precursor to this all. http://www.propublica.org/article/how-alcoholics-anonymous-can-be-a-playground-for-violence

In September of 2011, Karla Brada was brutally murdered by Eric Allen Earle who was court ordered to AA over 52 times over 22 years, instead of jail time in some instances. I follow this story in my film The 13th Step. http://the13thstepfilm.com.

CBS has some 8 million viewers for this show. It will be the biggest out reach to date with and investigative journalistic approach into the dark under side of Alcoholics Anonymous and its relationship with our Courts and Judges. It will be the beginning of our work to CHANGE THE SYSTEM.

We will relaunch the petition we already have up and contact Governor Brown to present this to him.

I will make appointments with the head judges of 8 courts in the Los Angeles area.  Santa Monica, LAX, Downtown, Inglewood, Beverly Hills, Santa Clarita, San Fernando and Van NUYS, asking to show part of my film and explain/ educate what AA is and what it is not. Leaving them with information and instructions as a grassroots advocate for safety , to stop sending our citizens, especially young people to any AA or NA meeting.

http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/judges-stop-sending-sex

This petition was already sent to the White House, President Obama, VP Biden and Both Michelle and Jill Biden. No response was received. We have contacted Jerry Brown’s office but have to send a written request to present by snail mail. Please sign and share this one if you have not done so already. We will proceed with this action.

http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/stop-courts-from-sending-1

Down the road…We will be contacting judges at The State level who will be asked to lay down the law that AA coercion on both sides is UNCONSTITUTIONAL…and add to it that if they insist on forcing our citizens to self support groups that are unsafe, and no leader is present , then they MUST by STATE law offer the 6 other free secular options.

IF you or someone would like to help with this work in your state or country, please contact me at makeaasafer@gmail.com

Thank you

Monica

karla pic smile

I am happy things are moving forward and that CBS 48 hours will be permitted to film some of this trial so the world will get to see how one man was court ordered to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings over 55 times over 22 years instead of going to jail.

This is not an isolated incident.

http://www.signalscv.com/section/36/article/127192/

I will in court as much as time allows with finishing up the film. I will report back each day that I am there. I plan to go often…even if it is for half day.

The film “The 13th Step” is in Post Production! …OMG its been 3 longs years.

Ok…wow…Im tired. it is finally there. Just came back from my editors house. What an amazing editor….more later. Im going for a walk with my dog!

Thank you all who contributed in any way to my leaving AA and deprogramming etc !

So there is now much to do before you all can see this puppy.

Twelve Steps to Danger: How Alcoholics Anonymous Can Be a Playground for Violence-Prone Members by Gabrielle Glaser, Special to ProPublica,

June 24, 2013, 8 a.m.

By Gabrielle Glaser

In the spring of 2011, Karla Brada Mendez finally seemed happy. She was 31 and in love, eager to move ahead on the path to maturity – marriage, a family, stability.  She had a good job in the customer-service department of a large medical supply firm, and was settling into a condo she had recently bought near her childhood home in California’s San Fernando Valley.

Her 20s had been rough, a struggle with depression, anxiety, alcohol and drugs. But early that spring two years ago, she told her parents and younger sister that she had met a charming, kind and handsome man who understood what she had been through.

Their relationship blossomed as the couple attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings several times a week. But there was much Karla didn’t know about the tall blond man who said he was an AA old-timer.

Court records show that Eric Allen Earle repeatedly relapsed and turned violent when drunk, lashing out at family members, his ex-wife and people close to him. By the time he and Karla crossed paths, judges had granted six restraining orders against him.

UPDATE: There is another court date for Karla’s case this week. We will keep you up to date as this case unfolds. We will be in court with her family to provide support.

KARLA BRADA’s Murder Pre Trial today…

karla pic

I sat in a courtroom all day today with Karla’s parents, Hector and Jaro, and her family and close friends listening to the beginning of her trial. I can not blog details but it was very hard to listen to the details of the coroner as he testified. I stopped breathing at one point I was so horrified, then I caught my breath and forced myself to take some deep breaths. I felt a huge wave of sadness fill me, then I looked to my right and each of the family members and friends had tears streaming down their faces. I took more deep breaths and continued listening.

When it was over I drove home on the 405 south (there was no traffic at 5pm ) and I was exhausted. I can’t imagine how they feel.

I think there are many aspects of what happened to her that will push our work, quicker and faster into the light and into the media and in effect make change.

  1. To make sure there is justice for Karla
  2. To educate the public and AA members that violent and sex  offenders are being sent there unknowingly…
  3. Make it illegal for the judges to use AA as a dumping ground
  4. Force AA/NA to be regulated
  5. Force AA to create safety polices
  6. Educate the public that there are 6 other free support options other then AA/NA
  7. Wake up the insurance industry (Blue Cross etc.) that they are being duped and ripped off along with average citizens by places that are flop houses and not real healing places
  8. Educate the public that AA is completely unregulated and a dangerous cultish like support group.
  9. That there are no trained facilitators like presented on network TV shows at all!

The good news is…that the Judge felt that there was enough evidence to move forward with the trial. Thank GOD!
