Now that you have left AA how will you spend your New Years. Did you already have a full life and spend it with “normal people” bringing in the new year?
Did you know The National Association of Drug Court Professionals got this kind of funding? How can our Federal Government fund Drug Courts when all of them send citizens to AA/NA faith /religious based programs, where the literature hasn’t been updated since 1936. I urge you to call your Senators and tell them you want SMART and WFS and SOS and HAMS HARM REDUCTION to be included. ALSO take abstinence off the table for everyone. For everyone abstinence is not the solution.

A very sad a tragic story. It seems he felt by what he wrote on his blog that he couldn’t fix his alcoholism. I wonder where he was getting his information.
Was it Alcoholics Anonymous ? Perhaps if he knew about Smart Recovery or our blogs Joe might still be with us.
Im so sorry to all his family. Many of us bloggers have lost family in this way. Myself my brother-in-law this June. Another blogger lost his sister on September 11, 2011.

NO ONE should ever believe that AA is the only way and that they are powerless or that they have a progressive disease. We know this is a huge lie made up by Bill WIlson in 1936 and there has been no research what so ever by AA Headquarters that this statement that is preached in 50,000 meetings all over the country are true.
DO you really know who is sitting next to you at an AA or NA meeting? Did you know that Violent Sex Offenders are being sentenced to AA and NA Meetings all the time.

Ordered to serve 150 days under plea deal that keeps victim from having to testify
A 21-year-old Pleasanton man and former swimmer at UC Davis has been convicted of a felony in connection with an attack on a young woman in her dorm room last year.
Pierce Hunter accepted a plea deal that spared the victim from having to testify and avoided a jury trial. Hunter pleaded no contest — admitting that the prosecution had enough evidence to convict him but not admitting guilt — to a single felony count of dissuading a witness after threatening the victim following the attack.
As part of the plea deal, Hunter was ordered to serve 150 days in the county jail; a charge of sexual battery will remain on hold for the five years Hunter will be on probation following his stay in jail. During his probation, he will have to register as sex offender, receive sex offender counseling, and attend meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous. The sexual battery charge will be dismissed if Hunter successfully completes probation.
Yolo County Deputy District Attorney Clint Parish told the court the attack took place in January 2010.
James Maxwell 43, a convicted violent felon was invited to a Christmas party in Port Orange by the girls parents. He later returned to abduct and rape the little 9 year old girl. They spent the night in a park. James Maxwell was on probation at the time and was attending mandated Daytona Narcotics Anonymous meetings. He has a long criminal history. He served 9 years for attempted murder in 1988 and 2 years for burglary in 1994. he is being held with no bail. This is horrible what happened to this little girl. The practice of mandating violent felons to meetings where minors are present needs to stop !
A 9-year-old Port Orange girl who was kidnapped and raped told police she woke up to find her neighbor, James Maxwell, sitting in a chair in her bedroom, according to court documents obtained Monday.
Maxwell, 43, who had been a holiday party guest at the girl’s parent’s house in the Brandy Hills neighborhood earlier Thursday night, then abducted the girl and raped her, police said. Reports say Maxwell told the child to take off her clothes. When she refused and resisted, Maxwell is accused of striking the child in the head.
When the mother reported her daughter missing, she told police she suspected Maxwell.
The mother’s reasons for concern about Maxwell, according to reports, was that “he was known to act strangely around children, he had a violent criminal past and left his residence early in the morning without explanation,” court records show.
According to reports filed in circuit court, authorities say Maxwell drove the child to a wooded area, raped her and took her to a park, where they stayed for the night.

Sometimes my family gets on my case, because some days it seems that everywhere I turn I see an AA freak who is preaching an outdated, unproven way of life/ addiction recovery. Usually when I get the feeling someone is in AA, I’ll do some digging, and you know what? I’m usually right.
A veteran cop who’s been wearing the uniform and walking the beat for 36 years is going to be able to identify another cop regardless of his clothing, dog, or bad dancing. I spent 36 years hanging out with these wackjobs, and they have a pretty distinctive style: the self-aggrandizing self-pity; the tendency to proselytize; THE TENDENCY TO PROJECT, EVEN IN A SMALL ROOM (probably due to spending so much time yelling from a podium, telling everyone in the room about yourself, regardless of whose listening). I could go on, but you get the point
It’s one thing to be a Judge in a Court in Los Angeles and also an AA member, ( how unbiased is that judge?) a senator from Connecticut who is on the board for an AA Treatment Facility, or a high profile TV Talk Show host like Dr Phil, who intimidates young people and families to listen to him like he is some sort of god. “Go to rehab or to prison you will go young lady!”! He bellows into her face streaming with tears. But the idea of having a man in The White House that believes AA’s antiquated Big Book and it’s 12 and 12 are a good plan for living scares me more then Sarah Palin.
He says here that he was not drinking, but that he needed help. Help with what? I find this story very, very disturbing. Read more here… http://www.soberliving.com/blog/newt-gingrich-big-book-thumper-alcoholics-anonymous-aa
It’s the deal of the century; free product placement in television and movies, the most influential force of the 20th century. It’s inescapable, AA has made its way into too many movies to count. It seems a third of the films I watch contain reference to AA. It’s innocent enough, right? You want to get some entertainment and decide to watch TV or put a disc in the DVD player. It’s been a busy day so you relax; you are ready to accept the information presented to you. Most of the products you see are obvious, common household brands sitting in the background. But wait, whats this, unnecessarily recovery or as it’s better known, AA comes into the mix. Normally I would not be offended except I find it happening all too often. Writers, producers, actors, and the like find ways to do their 12th step and carry the message through the media. The tradition is plain enough in that it states personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, films. Yes it’s a loophole, so long as it isn’t personal it’s OK. A commercial has an obvious motive but the craft of product placement in the body of entertainment is deceptive. Quite frankly, this offends the hell out of me.
