Shameless is Shamelessly promoting Alcoholics Anonymous- as its only option – Why oh Why?

The highly popular American version  of the hit TV show Shameless is puttering its way to its final episodes or can it continue on with Fiona Gallagher  gone! ( Not that we are sure this is going to happen ) but it sure feels like it- what the heck is going on here? Fiona becoming a drunk. Fiona losing her building. Fiona spinning out of control. Fiona going to an AA meeting ? Yup – that’s what they did to her last week. Still- I adore this show !

Lip, handsome, with wild gorgeous hair, fit and lean-  the strong and smart wild teen who crashed and burned in college a few seasons ago- loses his scholarship – and gets sent to only one rehab and is an AA shinning star with not one relapse – was kind of a stretch for me  and many other viewers. Frank had his short stint with AA , making fun of it and never looking back to continue his drinking and shenanigans.

So who was set in their ways to send such a strong AA message behind the scenes on the Showtime Shameless production offices. Was it Creator , Writer , Exec Producer show runner John Wells, or somewhere along the line did they hire a stepper writer or two- Not being a fly on the wall we will never know. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1586680/

Still – we the ex steppers ( AA critics) who have come together to try and create change in and around this Hollywood AA Propaganda… of what other options there are to problematic alcohol use… would love to have a conversation with the Producers and Writers.
